Kevin Dempsey and Tippers Trio

30th November 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

We are delighted to have Kevin back in Banbury, after a long absence. He is a master performer on the guitar, an arranger, a singer and a top quality live entertainer. He is one of the most sought-after musicians on the UK folk scene and beyond, and has played and recorded with many of the most famous names in acoustic and folk music: Dave Swarbrick, Joe Broughton, Chris Leslie, Peter Knight, Dando Shaft, Uiscedwr, Whippersnapper Mary Black and Jacqui McShee.

Steve Boyer is well known and respected on the Leamington and Warwick music scene. He organises music cafes, ukulele groups, children’s workshops, sessions for those with dementia and plays in a host of local bands. He can often be heard busking for charity in the town centres – his energy and enthusiasm know no
bounds! His musical tastes range from classical to jazz to folk and he has a treasure trove of songs tucked away, just ready to be performed at the appropriate time and location.
Steve Redshaw has taught in primary schools for the best part of forty years. Now retired and living aboard his narrow boat, Miss Amelia, he can pursue his passion for making music. He has played in a variety of bands – a Pogues rip-off, several Ceilidh bands, the Petworth Town Brass band and currently, The Charcoal
Burners, a south of England based folk fusion four piece. His acquaintance with Steve Boyer has involved him in charity busking, a children’s holiday club, dementia music sessions and even a Hank Williams tribute band.
Together, they share a passion for particular singer/songwriters and acoustic music. From that musical affinity they have formed an acoustic duo, Steve² drawing on material from Van Morrison, Ralph McTell, Labi Siffre, Jim Crawford, Sandy Denny (to mention just a few of their favourites) as well as from traditional
folk sources. When they perform together the result is always entertaining.
