£9Three parts English, one part Orkney, and recently described as Leicester’s ‘superb roots combo’, Looma play acoustic roots and folk from the swamps of Louisiana to the Swedish midnight sun, and everywhere in between. Bringing together folk, blues, cajun, old-time and country traditions, as well as original songs, Loomamix driving energy with strong vocals and foot-tapping tunes.
Formed in 2017, Looma have played club, pubs, parties and festivals around the Midlands and further afield, winning an enthusiastic and loyal following.
Looma are: Liz Logie: Piano Accordion, Vocals. Liz is an Orcadian who has played the accordion since she was ten, being inspired to play by her father, who was a well-known Orkney accordion player.
Mark Theobald: Harmonica, Vocals. Mark has twice won the title of National Harmonica League ‘Player of the Year’, playing Blues and Irish music.
Bob Gilmour-Evans: Guitar, Vocals. Bob has been performing and writing songs since his youth but feels he is now moving into his prime years. He has recorded several albums and many other artists have covered his songs.
Tim Garland: Cittern, Fiddle, Guitar, Whistle, Vocals. Tim has been performing traditional and self-penned material for over thirty years, both as a founder member of Midlands based radical folk group Fieldwork and with Kasutima Ceilidh band, playing nationally at clubs, festivals and on national and local radio. He has made five albums with Fieldwork and two solo albums.
