SUMMARY:Thrup'nny Bits
DESCRIPTION:Thrup’nny Bits are a three part harmony group from the UK and are Barbara and Gareth Wyatt and Des Patalong. Barbara and Gareth hail from Radford Semele near Leamington Spa in Warwickshire and Des comes from Coventry\, which should still be in Warwickshire but isn’t.\nThrup’nny Bits is the successor group to a four part group called Ninepenny Marl. Our other member retired through ill health. At that point the three of us decided to develop a new identity and worked on some new material for three voices.\nThey sing a variety of styles of music\, though mainly from the traditional folk cannon\, and some are several hundred years old and in Middle English. However\, we also sing more recently written material\, some parodies and some music hall and comic songs.

SUMMARY:Vikki Clayton
DESCRIPTION:Vikki was born in England in the 1950’s\, and spent her early childhood absorbing the sounds of trad-jazz records\, and later came to love the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. From her grandmother she learned folksongs and she later enjoyed the advantage of having an eccentric music teacher\, who introduced her to Morris Dancing and other folk traditions such as the work of Vaughan Williams\, Britten\, and Delius. Vikki took up the guitar at age 12\, and at the time her influences were decidedly. By the end of the 60’s\, her family left London and moved to Lincolnshire and she began hanging around with other folk enthusiasts. After hearing the then-new Fairport Convention album Leige And Leif\, she’d found a direction and\, in Sandy Denny\, a home-grown source of inspiration. Vikki joined a series of electric folk-rock bands\, including Kelsay and the Ragged Heroes. She also became infatuated with the work and music of folksong arranger (and composer) Percy Grainger (1882-1961) during the 70’s. Possessed of a silvery-pure voice and exquisite musical sensibilities\, it was inevitable that Clayton would take centre-stage as an artist. Her solo recording career  began with Honor Tokened\, and her subsequent work included Lost Lady Found. In association with Fred A. Baker and Ric Sanders\, she recorded Sanders\, Baker & Clayton Carried Away\, In Flight and Looking At The Stars. She has also worked with Gordon Giltrap and Tony Moore. On Movers And Shakers\, she played and sang alongside Gerry Conway\, Ric Sanders\, John Kirkpatrick\, and Jethro Tull’s Martin Barre\, and she has toured with the Vikki Clayton Band\, which includes Jethro Tull co-founder Clive Bunker on the drums. As of 2004\, her most well-known recording is It Suits Me Well\, an album of songs written by\, arranged\, or associated with her long-time idol Sandy Denny. \n \nSupport is from Fraser Winterbottom.

SUMMARY:Sunjay
DESCRIPTION:You could be forgiven for thinking at first listen; singer/guitarist Sunjay is older than his 32 years. With a relaxed and confident manner\, vocal style and mastery of his instrument he walks onto a stage and addresses the audience as though he is sitting down to play music with a group of close friends; a completely natural approach for a young man who picked up the guitar when he was just 4 years old and hasn’t put it down since. \nSunjay’s style has that natural drift between folk and blues and both camps have recognised his\nobvious flair. There have been a clutch of award nominations\, including winning the Wath Festival Young Performers Award. He also made the final selection for the BBC’s Young Folk Award in 2012\, had three nominations at the Exposure Music Awards 2014 and was also recognised by the 2014 British Blues Awards. \nDrawing from a rich\, musical and cultural background it is hardly surprising that Sunjay has quickly become recognised as one of the UK’s rising stars. His performances have been described as “mature & confident”\, while his guitar playing has been hailed as “superb\, brilliant\, experienced\, intricate & faultless”. \nI’m Just Like You produced by Sunjay and Josh Clark at Get Real Studios in Bath\, UK is the second in a set of three releases\, inspired during the pandemic period. Sunjay was late to the livestreaming party\, he explains\, “As ever\, I wanted to do something different. Instead of just playing my regular set (in different orders!) I decided to do a series of themed livestreams – the VIP (Virtually In Person) live-streaming global tour! The first was on Valentine’s Day with a ‘love’ theme. I did other themes specific to previous albums\, a night of the blues which inspired Black & Blues Revisited (2022) (the first of the three releases) and tribute live steams to inspirational artists. One of those was ‘Sunjay Sings Chris Smither’… I’m Just Like You wasn’t originally intended for commercial release – it was recorded in homage as an 80th Birthday present for Chris Smither. “I was inspired by Chris from an early age” muses Sunjay.“ \nAlready creating a stir with talents way beyond his years. A really soothing\, natural sound and most definitely destined for bigger things.” – Maverick Magazine\n“For such a young performer\, Sunjay shows real confidence\, maturity and ease on stage that it seems like he has been doing nothing else all of his life.” – Folk All Magazine\n“A great voice.”- Blues Matters Magazine\n“He’s a wizard on the guitar; I think I’d call it jazz-folk!” – Vin Garbutt\n“An amazing picker\, a must see.” – Terry Reid\n“Listen\, watch and take note.” – FATEA Magazine \nTo book tickets\, call 07845 821041.
